“Liz’s 3-day pottery workshop was wonderful. We did several kinds of clay work— pinch pots, slabs, and throwing on the wheel. I had not done anything in clay since I was a kid in elementary school. Liz is a wonderful teacher--patient, clear, and supportive. Her pottery workshop was so rewarding and fun, and I love the pieces I created!
Liz was extremely patient! She answered questions in many different ways. She gave wonderful demonstrations and lots of hands-on learning experiences. There were several people in our group and she met each person where they were at and helped them move along and find success, beauty, and joy in working with clay. Liz is able to work with many different learning styles. I have an injured thumb and she had ideas on how I could still work on the wheel.
Liz’s studio is lovely, spacious, and very beautiful! Such a peaceful environment to be working in and learning, surrounded by many of her gorgeous, unique clay pieces.
I came knowing nothing about clay. I made a pinch pot, a bowl that turned into a mug, a spoon rest, and then another bowl. I would come again in a heartbeat. I am looking forward to my next adventures in clay with Liz. Thank you, thank you, Liz for introducing me to the world of pottery!”
“I wasn't sure what to expect when 3 friends and I signed up to take a series of pottery classes from Liz Lawrence. We were all amazed and completely satisfied not only with our clay creations, but with the grand time that we had! Liz was able to pace the projects so we moved from creating the simplest pinch pots, to slab projects to actually successfully making beautiful bowls on the wheel. Her clear instructions and gentle guidance enabled us to not only feel comfortable and confident, but to also have a really good time with great conversations, smiles and laughter. I envied Liz's ability to help all four of us simultaneously.
Liz's studio is huge with three pottery wheels, lots of table space for working, and lovely views of the outdoors. The display shelves of her varied and gorgeous works of art inspired us. Her equipment is state of the art and we had access to an enormous number of tools and helpful design options. She covered a number of styles of clay work, methods of surface design and information on firing and glazing.
I wholeheartedly recommend Liz Lawrence as a teacher and as a person. We left able to center our clay on the wheel and with a sense of being centered and balanced individually and as a group.”

“There were two of us, who knew nothing about throwing pots, taking Liz Lawrence’s Beginning Ceramics Class in the winter of 2024. We met with Liz four times, over the course of as many weeks, each time for two hours. Liz was a wonderful teacher: clear in her instructions and demonstrations; immediately helpful to us when we needed help; hands-off when we were finding our own way with the materials—the clay, the wheel, the glazes, whatever it was. She was encouraging, imaginative, funny, knowledgeable and patient. We hope to study with her again.”
